Adams Cats

I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with two felines with talents… The first is Aloysius (nick-named Pookie) who was a beautiful Seal Point Himalayan. The second is a buff/white alley cat named Boo Radley. Unfortunately both have passed on…
Pookie had a stuffed animal (a little witch called Witchie) that he would carry around. He cried when he carried her. When he would be “done” with playing with her, I would put her somewhere in the house like on top of the piano or a table. Pookie never approved of Witchie being higher than he was! He absolutely would have to knock her down!
Another of Pookie’s antics involved his being bathed and dried. After a bath, Pookie would let me towel dry him and then he would jump on top of the commode for me to blow dry him. He would actually slowly spin around to I could dry him evenly! I would almost swear the commode lid was like a lazy-Susan!
Pookie was also known to play catch. If my Mother and I would toss one of his toys back and forth he would sit in the middle to intercept. Then he would bring the toy to one of us as if to say “More, please”.
Pookie’s greatest accomplishment was to turn on the faucet in either the sink or the tub. He loved to drink from both and there was many a times my water bill suffered from his ability because he either never mastered turning it off or just did not care how much it cost!
Boo had three little tricks he liked to perform. His first was diving under the rugs in the kitchen. He would run at full-speed and throw himself under the rug. His little head would poke out the other side with the little fringe hanging on his face. He resembled a nun!
Another of Boo’s tricks was to get me to retrieve his fuzzy toy mousers. He would accomplish this by meowing loudly at the yardstick. Once I grabbed the yardstick he KNEW that we would be getting his mousers out from under the stove, fridge or washer and dryer! Sometimes he would immediately bat them under again just to watch me fish them back out. Occasionally I would pull out the yardstick and he would run to the stove and press his little face down waiting for his mouser to emerge!
Boo’s third trick was that he could actually catch food you tossed at him. I would sit about 5 yards from him and toss pieces from his food bowl and he would jump and and catch them in his mouth. It only took a couple of sessions to teach him how to do that and it was very amusing to watch.
